We hope you are looking forward to your visit to Arch Cape! We have put together some ideas of things to do in the area that our family has either enjoyed experiencing together or that we have heard great things about from others and hope that you might find this helpful as you plan your visit.

Fishing - We have not personally done any fishing along the coast. There are several guide services in the area, most of which would focus on going out to do deep sea fishing. We've heard great things in general.

Here are a couple of places to call for further information:

This website is a great place to start to keep up with any necessary permits or information for independent excursions.

Crabbing -

Our Picks: We have primarily crabbed down closer to Tilamook. From personal experience, crabbing is a lot of fun and we would highly recommend it if you have time. Plus the crab are delicious to eat!

We have heard that there is great crabbing available in Nehalem Bay and Kelly's Brighton Marina has boat and crab pot rentals.

Hiking -

Our Picks: We would recommend searching the following hikes on All Trails so you'll have the exact details, but we have done all of these hikes and they are great. There are also many others in the area so if you find other great hikes, let us know so we can try them out!

1. Cape Falcon Trail - This is a trail that you can either take from the trailhead at the road, or you can hike down to Short Sands Beach first and then hike on the trail to Cape Falcon. It hikes out to a beautiful view of the ocean and is one of the top recommendations.

2. Elks Flat Trail to Devil's Cauldron - This is in the same area from Short Sands beach area but hikes south to Devil's cauldron. Also a great spot with a good view.

3. Oregon Coast Trail - This trail is walking distance from the house so you wouldn't have to drive to a trailhead. The trail connects up Shingle Mill Road and you take off to your right. It goes up and then connects at the highway. You can cross the highway and continue on all the way to Cape Falcon trail if you want.

Another hike that lots of people say is great is Neahkahnie Mountain Viewpoint!

State Parks - There are quite a few State parks to check out in the area!

Beaches -

Our Picks: We love the Arch Cape beach and it's close and easy from the house so it makes it awesome. We recommend going to your left around the Arches during low tide. There are fun areas with tide pools to explore and definitely something that you should try to experience during your stay. Short Sands beach is also great.

Antique Shopping - We’ve heard there are some great antique shops in the area if that is something that you enjoy!

Restaurants -

Our Picks: There are a lot of great restaurants in Cannon Beach. We typically eat in while we stay, but Mo's Seafood & Chowder is great and we've heard great things about Wayfarer Restaurant.

A few other options that we hear recommended a lot are:
